bautista from fayabash asked us to promote a dubstep night in the loft cafe during electrosanne festival in the heart of the city of lausanne. so we had the pleasure to meet and play with wedge (if symptoms persist) from bristol.

we’re always a bit late with our party reviews. but faux rivage is definitely worth to be remembered. well usually all of our parties are. but this one (which we co-organized with the main man mr. hobby from overdose and  with copains sauvages) had sun, a lake + fireworks which made it probably to the party of 2010 so far.

we took advantage of the noisy festivities due to the swiss national holiday (actually the swiss national holiday is august 1. maybe it’s because bienne is not really that swiss that we do it one day earlier….?) and squatted a beautiful place in front of an empty block at the lake of our city (thanks to the guy who usually squats the place and who lent us his household stuff).

it started early in the afternoon with bbq, bathing people, romping children and summer music:

west coast hip-hop (daddy c), cumbia and françoise hardy (raphallus), live music (bienna dub orchestra) and old school electro (shool0mate 508) when it got darker.

the children left after the city of bienne had finished exploding a lot of money around 11.30 pm and the whole thing turned into a rave. the place got pretty overrun by an unexpected number of people. counted on the 420 liters of sold beer (big up to jrom who went on a mission and supplied us with more barrels from the place he works. and a huge big up to helena. without her the bar would have collapsed) and the unknown amount of vodka, there must have been kind of many.

the party went on until  the morning with tech music from milwaukee, goodman and c-me (copains sauvages), experimental live electronics from feldermelder, dubstep and bass music from zenit and faust (bass vandalizm), percussive tribal afro house and uk funky from raphallus (bass vandalizm) and deepness from mr. hobby.

big big up to the peaceful party crowd. and yes we were lucky that the police only got there by around 10 am when there was nothing left than a dozen of confused jaw chomping kids looking for their shoes or something…

Football is a big thing in Brazil. Probably there’s not one single Brazilian who does not have “his” team – even if he actually hates football.

Brazilian clubs have the biggest following in the world. The most popular one is Flamengo from Rio de Janeiro with about 40 Mil fans, followed by Corinthians from São Paulo with about 25 Mil.

The most dedicated fans participate in hierarchically organized fan clubs called Torcidas Organizadas. Flamengo alone has about 30 Torcidas Organizadas, all having their own mottoes, chants, logos etc.

I’ve put together a YouTube playlist with “war chants” (gritos de guerra) and baile funks from some fan clubs. The first one is from the Torcida Independente from São Paulo FC which I heard during a game in the Morumbi Stadium in São Paulo some years ago.

“THIS IS SPACE” is a project of our friends BOUBASTAR & HANDLESS DJ, two exiled Frenchmen from Tours, living in Brussels. By coincidence they met in an old, well known record store in Brussels, knowing each other from studying in France a few years ago.
-
After a lot of sessions they played together, the same feeling of the groove and the love for the music made them unite the forces for a new project called This is space. The idea of this alliance is to bring freshness and deepness into Belgian nights. There is no musical limit in a steady research to transform a club-night into a cosmic trip.

There will be a podcast for each edition, BASS VANDALIZM is proud to support this project! So here the excellent first one, mixed by HANDLESS DJ / reedited by BOUBASTAR! LET THERE BE SPACE, ENJOY!
